Students
Projet Innocence Québec finds its strength in the university population. It also welcomes students from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) for a one or two semester internship, where they are called upon to assist in the preparation of cases. The three- or six-credit internship requires students to conduct research on various criminal law topics and factual elements relevant to the cases, and to assist lawyers in the steps and procedures related to the cases in progress. In doing so, they apply much of the knowledge they have acquired in the various courses of the Bachelor of Laws program. Projet Innocence Québec offers students a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in criminal law as part of their studies.

Lawyers and volunteers
Each year, many lawyers and law school alumni become involved in representing or assisting people who claim to be innocent. As such, in the past, attorneys have represented individuals in court, taken sworn witness statements and reconstructed cases.
